NATIONAL READING DAY AND MONTH
- 19th of June is celebrated as National Reading Day. This day commemorates the death anniversary of PN Panicker, the man renowned in Kerala as the "Father of the Library Movement." Under the Kerala Grandhasala Sangham, he promoted a number of initiatives that led to a popular cultural movement in Kerala in the 1990s that resulted in universal literacy in the state.
National Reading Day is the first day of National Reading Month, which is observed from June 19th to July 18th.
