World Environment Day
- World Environment Day (WED) was established in 1972 by the UN General Assembly. The first celebration of WED, with the theme "Only One Earth," was held in 1973. Over the years, WED has grown to become a forum for bringing attention to environmental issues, including air pollution, plastic pollution, illegal wildlife trade, sustainable consumption, rising sea levels, and food security. It also plays a significant role in influencing changes in consumption patterns and national and international environmental policies.
Under the theme "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience" World Environment Day, 2024 is celebrate. The global events for World Environment Day in 2024 were held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
